There are two kinds of TH :
voiced ð
the, that, their, them…
and voiceless θ
think, thought, thing, throw….
Pronouncing Voiceless TH
You already know how to pronounce T, try doing it a couple of times, then move the tip of your tongue to the bottom of your upper teeth. Try pronouncing it. My teacher gave me a mirror the first time I was trying this and that helped me a lot, so do it once again in front of the mirror. You should hear a soft T sound, if I have to define it somewhere between T, S and F.
You can put your tongue outside a bit more if that’s going to help you, eventually you will feel comfortable enough and use it in the right amount.
Pronouncing Voiced TH
Start by pronouncing D, you will hear a vibrating sound, position the tip of your tongue at the bottom of your upper front teeth. You should still be able to hear a very noticeable vibrating sound.Practice:
Stand in front of the mirror and pronounce these pairs, if you have a recorder, record yourself it will help on the future to correct yourself.Team – Theme
Tank – Thank
Word - Worth
Sued – Sooth
Breed - Breath
Tree – Three
Day – They
Taught – Thought
Boat – Both
Bat – Bath
Debt – Death
I will add a recording of these so that you can check and hear those sounds. Until then, keep practicing
